Part 8 Landing Zone/Pickup Zone (LZ/PZ) Operations Practice Test

In LZ operations, a casualty collection point serves as the central place where wounded personnel are gathered for medical assessment and evacuation. It functions as the triage and stabilization hub: medics quickly assess injuries, provide life-saving care, and prepare casualties for evacuation by helicopter or other means. The CCP also ensures security around the wounded, maintains control of casualty flow, and provides status reporting to medical leadership and aviation assets so that evacuations can be coordinated efficiently. It’s positioned to allow rapid access for medics and evacuation aircraft while staying protected and separated from the most chaotic areas of the landing zone.

It’s not used for storing equipment, resting personnel, or functioning as a communications hub unrelated to medical needs, so those roles belong to other areas or support elements.
